Wedding Photography at Aunt Chilada's Squaw Peak

phoenix-az-photographer

Hey everyone!

This is Joshua again and I was the photographer who covered this photo shoot for Noel and Angie

I’ve covered multiple weddings as a videographer and a photographer.

After explaining to Angie and Noel about the packages MediaSmith offers, they picked our Ruby Package.

The type of gear I bring with me to a wedding is important and I like to explain to people the ‘surface level knowledge’ of why I bring gear and what it functions for.

So, I won’t get into the specifications of my cameras or my lenses, but I will make references to their focal lengths and other, as I like to call it, ‘surface level knowledge’ features in a camera.

The gear I brought with me to this car photoshoot was:

  • Canon EOS R5

  • Canon EOS R6 (backup)

  • Canon EOS 6D Mark II (emergency backup)

  • Canon RF 85mm f/2.0

  • Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8

  • Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4

  • GoPro Hero 8 (for filming purposes)

The camera bodies I brought – the Canon R5, Canon R6, and the Canon 6D Mark II - are all professional camera bodies. They provide high quality content for myself and my clients.

Throughout the duration of the event, I switched lenses on the R5 and the R6.

Beginnings - Engagement Photography

I had actually accidentally met Angie and Noel when they were booked a day to the selfie museum called Pixypros.

I was there doing promotional business photos for my friends that owned the studio at the time.

When Angie and Noel were checking out of their session, Noel had informed us that he had just popped the question to Angie.

I volunteered myself to take their engagement photos.

Noel was extra gracious and informed me that he was willing to pay for the photos, but I told him just to keep me in mind for the wedding if he didn’t mind.

As long as he made an inquiry and even if he didn’t book, then that was payment enough.

Sure enough, Angie and Noel contacted me to be their wedding photographer.

Wedding Photography at Aunt Chilada’s

The day was beautiful and I was greeted to this amazing ceremony and reception area.

The day started off with amazing weather.

However, it’s a bit difficult to see here, but a monsoon started to pick up nearby. Wind and rain was a flurry at this point as shown by the cloth where Angie, Noel, and the wedding party had walked in thrown aside due to the wind.

After the ceremony, we usually go to a location outside of the venue to take additional photos.

This is primarily for two reasons:

  1. The wedding party will have a different background for their photos

  2. The wedding party can make their grand entrance after the ceremony.

Unfortunately, due to the monsoon winds (which you can see in the back of the photos below), we had to take the photos in front of the altar area.

However, it didn’t negate the mood at all and everyone got to see the photos take place.

After the bridal party photos, Angie and Noel were finally able to get their food, sit down, eat, and take photos with the guests that came up to their table.

Here’s one of my favorite photos of the event - and probably of all-time at a wedding.

Overall, it was an amazing event from beginning to end.

The monsoon didn’t pose a problem at all for this wedding party.

Everyone was all smiles and happiness the entire time. I loved the mood and I am extremely grateful that Angie and Noel reached out to me to cover their wedding as their wedding photographer.
